Leipzig Attractions
With the tram you can reach the the city center with all its sights quick and easy within 15 minutes. Enjoy Leipzig's rich culture.
The Leipzig opera house has a 300-year tradition. The 'Gewandhaus' Leipzig is the main venue for the famous Gewandhaus Orchestra, which has been founded in 1781 and is one of the oldest German orchestras. Plenty of cabarets and small theatres offer much choice for an entertaining evening.
In the heart of the city is the old Town Hall. Auerbach's Keller is where a young Goethe ate and drank while studying in Leipzig; it is the venue of a scene from, and the only real place in, his Faust.
Another highlight is St. Thomas' Church, where the world-known Thomaner choir performs 3 times a week. The most famous cantor of the choir was Johann Sebastian Bach, who held this position from 1723 until his death in 1750.
The Church of St. Nikolai and the impressive Station should not be missing from your city tour either.
